Hi i have a noob question for you! :teehee:

I have the classic NEC ND2500A burner

I Use Verbatim media

Now - Which speed should i use to

burn the safest best quality way ?

The ND2500A cant go slower than 2.5x (i presume?)

Is it somehow better if i set ImgBurn to

2.4 instead of 2.0x for instance ?

Okey and another more important thing,

im just at the moment burning at 2.4x

and im in the verification process.

And the verification goes no faster

than 0.3x... (380 bkit/s)

*some minutes later*

well now its running at 5.7x (7800 kbit/s)

and increasing..

I mean what the (piiiip)

Firmware update time ?

(im running x64 Edition on a

Tyan based system with Dual AMD Opteron 248 CPU?s btw...)

Hi 3DFX and welcome to the forum.

The drive will only burn as slow as it sees the disc MID rated. Starting out slow and 'ramping up' is what your drive was designed to do. It would represent a problem if it stayed at or less than 2X, but that is not the case here. I burn all my discs at 8X and have very few problems if any with playback.

Just a few recommendations for new members.

1. Read the Faq's and Guides

2. Use the 'search' function.

3. Read the forum threads.

edit: 4. I forgot...post a copy of the log file so that we can see for ourselves what is going on.

8x or 6x for me, apart from when i am testing overspeed etc.

Maybe start saving for a new writer for a spare when maybe your nec does not like a certian brand media code etc, they are so cheap now.

Hi spinningwheel & thanks for the clarification here!

We cant say other than that we love our trusted ImgBurn, now can we..?

I mean like that in combination with the Nec never seems to fail a

burn (at least not with this pc and Verbatim) But it was h*ll before

discovering i had to go with it, about 12 disc burn without CSS

protection removal for me, burnt with the wrong program..

wasted for my standalone Panasonic S97 for the Plasma.

(i was anti-clever enough not to check them first off)

well well, no pain no gain, isnt that what they say..? :innocent::whistling:

I?ll post a list like the others if a trouble will come up.

But it seems that it works fine to write DVD?s without

Verification also, so i dont see so much reason

(takes 10 minues normally for me)

Thanks for the tips: i think i?ll read the guide about the

Dual Layer burning laters.

And Dontasciime got a point too, i guess

i might be going for a Plextor on the next system

with Blue Ray i suppose. Alas, maby Plextors arent that cheap ?

Which drives do you guys own if i may ask btw..?
