I have this running on Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 using Wine, there are some differences from the previous version. The Build Mode has to be run under Windows98 due to a problem with the destination folder output. I still have more testing to do, but so far everything else seems ok. Here is a link to some of the errors.

I've spent all afternoon looking at this... unicode just isn't working right for comboboxes and it's nothing in my own personal code that's causing the problem.

Even just sending the raw 'SendMessageW' command to the combobox telling it to fill my widestring buffer with the text fails, it fills it with the ansi version.

I tried a super basic program with just 2 lines of code too - same problem.

Here you can see the results:

You simply type some text into the combo box on the left and then hit the go button. All being well, it will be copied to the label on the right.

This is what it looks like on Windows.

This is what it looks like on Ubuntu

TntLabel1->Caption = TntComboBox1->Text;
TntLabel2->Caption = TntEdit1->Text;

So there's either a bug in the Tnt Unicode components or the bug is in Wine.

As you can see, it only happens with dropdown comboboxes. The editboxes work fine. It's most odd!

By running as Win98, you're basically telling the Tnt controls to create Ansi controls rather than Unicode ones. That's why it works as Win98. The issue is just when a unicode combobox has been created.

Your programs have always been top notch IMO, I only wish I had your skills. Linux is a hobby of mine been using for about 9 months now and before that I never owned a computer until I built my first one a little over 2 years ago.

A quick search at WineHQ shows a lot of issues with unicode!

http://www.google.com/search?q=unicode&amp...=www.winehq.org

I would like to submit ImgBurn to the WineHQ's database and see if one the Wine experts can find a way to patch this.

Here is a screen shot of my Linux Desktop with all the Windows programs I have been able to get working under Wine, some of the Icon's are custom and all the programs work well with there own minor issues.

I will help anyone interested in doing some testing on Linux and to LIGHTNING UK! thanks for the Ultimate Burning program!

After more testing I have found another bug with Wine, the star icons do not show up in the layer break window. I do not use dual layer discs as my main burner is still my very dependable Plextor PX-712.

Here is a screen shot of the drivers loaded

I have also ran some tests using DVD Info which seems to work well. Here are some screen shots

Why to never use CMC Mags this is a disc a friend burnt for me!

Did you submit that bug report to them for the unicode combobox?

Even if the bug isn't directly in wine, I'd be interest to see what they have to say

Not yet but I will sometime soon, I will also like to add Imgburn to there App Database if that would be OK with you! I have added DVD Rebuilder and done testing on Vob blanker as well as a few other programs. If I get a response I will post the answer here.

I submitted a bug report with a link to this thread and also added ImgBurn to the App Database. I am sure it will be a few days before I hear anything, it took like two weeks to get DVD Rebuilder added to the list.

I've hidden the error message about the DeviceIoControl functions failing at startup (because wine doesn't yet support the IOCTL) but I've noticed the drive drop down comboboxes are too big and so cover up (a little of) what's below them.

Also, for some reason, the splash screen image doesn't draw itself properly (nor does the enlarged / bold text - but that's common to all parts of the program using big text)

Oh and it could just be me but the main window won't let any non 'Modal' windows come in front of it in the z-order - i.e. the 'Log' one, 'Automatic Write Speed' one or the 'ImgBurn Queue' one. The main 'ImgBurn' window is always visible over the top of them.

I see there has been a lot of activity at WineHQ that stuff is way beyond my skills. I just wanted to thank you again for the great program and the work you have put into it for all of us! My company bonus comes out in a couple of weeks and I will be sending a nice well deserved donation your way. Wine is still under heavy development and it is not perfect by any means.

Yeah I'm trying to get some help with this issue. If the wine people + the tnt controls guy can't sort it out, nobody can!

I'll just keep giving them (well, trying to!) whatever info they require :)

I was just wondering if you have any luck with the Unicode combo boxes yet?

I have ran at least 15 build and burn tests without a failure and pretty consistent scans with DVD Info free. This is still my burning program of choice whether running Windows or Linux. They still have not listed ImgBurn in the app database at Wine HQ, but it took quite a while before they listed DVD Rebuilder as well.

Where are all the Linux users around here?

They finally listed ImgBurn at Wine HQ on there app database

http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=7073

Hopefully they will get the Unicode drop down box BUG fixed sometime in the near future. I am currently doing 90% of my DVD work on LINUX with very good results. Using ImgBurn on Linux vs. Windows XP shows no difference on a dual boot machine with the same Media and burn speed when scanned by DVD Info Pro. Yes there are some minor bugs that can be worked around, performance is sometimes faster on Linux than on Windows XP.

With the direction Microsoft is going with Vista I will be sticking with XP or moving to Linux. Thanks again for the great program and maybe someday I will convert more people to Linux!

The latest version of Wine that comes with Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 seems to have fixed the Unicode combo boxes and the need to switch OS versions in Wine between the Build and write mode. I have only ran a couple of tests but so far it looks good.

I have been using ImgBurn with Wine & Feisty Fawn with no noticeable combo-box issues, so maybe they (Ubuntu and/or Wine folks) had made some changes between then and the release of Gutsy.

Then again, I probably haven't used it as extensively as you have, Wild77. The only way I could get mine to work was using WinNT as the OS in Winecfg. I just wanted to be able to burn Blu-ray discs with ImgBurn under Linux.

Just wanted to give a thumbs-up to you and the ImgBurn team for keeping a pulse on the ImgBurn/Wine/Linux combo.

I just wanted to update this thread and report that ImgBurn 2.3.2.0 works great on Ubuntu 7.10 with Wine. It seems all the previous issues have been dealt with in Wine.

@LIGHTNING UK! if you read this your guide on setting up ImgBurn on Ubuntu is excellent. I can not stand the standard Ubuntu theme and have customized mine so I wanted to post a screen shot
