bigr85wg Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I have had a lot of success burning dvd's with IMG. kevdriver Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Why do people post for help but don't come back to follow their post up.......... Is it my cologne or what?........ :&
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Dunno. It's not your avatar. I go all slobbery whenever I see it. (Anyone got a hanky?)
spinningwheel Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Why do people post for help but don't come back to follow their post up It's because when we tell them to post a log, change media, upgrade firmware and RTFG they become all frustrated and really don't want to be told that they assed the process up by not reading the threads, using the search function or taking the time to learn the process in the first place. It's easier for us to use the IB crystal ball method and play 20 questions with them than it is for them to do what we ask.
lfcrule1972 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 <passes clean hanky to Shamus> I would visit any forum just to see Kev's Av every day !!

I've done loads of dvds without a problem. Now I am lucky if I get one at all. Mine usually gives the message about 8 to 9%. It'll go through the first round but the second is when I get this message. I also upgraded the latest version. Any help? Edited February 21, 2007 by DamonMcGowan

polopony Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 will you burn something at 8X instead of max to see what happens ,your max speed was 15x+ but quality really drops after 12X you could try a change of media Verbatim aor Taiyo Yudens preferred check the FAQ section on the "threshold warning " PS post as much as you like its not a problem, thats what this forum is about trying to get some help and answers W 23:31:15 AnyDVD can interfere with ImgBurn's ability to verify accurately, please ensure it's disabled This is from your log ( yes its a proper log ), anydvd has been known to create problems disable it when you're burning it especially affects verifys
DamonMcGowan Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) I just had everything I wanted to say and it disappeared. Wow..lol. I am not the great at understanding somethings, so please bare with me...lol. About changing the 4x..etc. I don't get or dunno how to I shall say. As for anydvd, I only use it to help with some dvds that are a pain in the bum to get. So if I disable it while burning, could it help? Thanks for everything so far...lol. Is new to the whole burning thing. Edited February 21, 2007 by DamonMcGowan
DamonMcGowan Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Ok I changed my write speed to 8x and disabled anydvd. It started to burn a little and once again just before round 2 I got these. Honestly I am getting a tad fustrated because of all the blank dvds I am going through...lol. I am going to sleep for a while and check back later and see if you lot have any other ideas or suggestions. Thanks again!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Your drive seems to have reset itself - that's not a good thing! Previously, your errors were coming from the 'Verify' stage. That is to say, the drive burnt the disc but them couldn't read it back - meaning it had produced a bad burn. You tend to get that on discs the drive doesn't like or just on discs that are useless anyway. Try and find some Verbatim (MCC dye) or Taiyo Yuden discs. They're much better quality than the ones you're currently using (RICOHJPN-R03-04).
lfcrule1972 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Hopefully with decent discs as recommended by the boss you won't get these errors.
bigr85wg Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 Sorry for not responding earlier, haven't had the chance. But it sounds as if Damon is having the exact same problem. I have been using the Verbatim disks solely to burn DVD's. I am at work so i can not copy the log to send, I see what you mean now. I was just wondering if might have something to do with the drive itself or just a program issue, i just purchased this drive from Dell a few months back and has done good so far. I was going to check and see if there where any issues with burning CD's, not sure if one has anything to do with the other.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 99.99% of the time, an I/O Error is a drive / media / firmware issue. The drive reports the errors, ImgBurn simply displays them.
DamonMcGowan Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) Thanks for the help everyone. I just don't understand why the drive would do that after burning loads of dvds on the discs I am using now. Mine are Memorex DVD+R RW. After burning 30 movies or so, do you still think it's the brand of discs? My burner had also burned DVD- too. So in a way, I dunno if it perfers + or - lol. Sounds like the drive has a mind of it's own. Scary thought...lol. Oh and when it would burn a movie, it would burn one and then the next one would fail. It would repeat that same cycle occasionally. Edited February 21, 2007 by DamonMcGowan
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 These things deteriorate over time... nothing lasts forever! Resetting DMA (as per the FAQ) can help out in certain situations. Updating the firmware, resetting DMA and using decent media are the 3 easy things to do when stuff starts going wrong. If you do those and it still doesn't work, you need to start looking at general hardware problems.
DamonMcGowan Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I surely hope it isn't going on me now. I just bought this comp and only been burning this month and never before. I will try those suggestions, if I know how to...lol. Then I will let you know. Thanks Lightning!
bigr85wg Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 I have just got the chance to check the log for both errors writing, one is before the update the other is after. dontasciime Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 still looks like you have DMA issues, did you uninstall the controller / reboot and let windows pick up drives again ? Or try this http://rapidshare.com/files/14862038/resetdma.rar if your asked for a password when extracting rar try ascii1967
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The only problems are these: W 22:03:49 Failed to Write Sectors 216864 - 216895 - Write Error W 09:59:59 Failed to Write Sectors 224448 - 224479 - Write Error There's just something the drive doesn't like about the discs. Get another spindle of Verbatims (maybe the +R type this time) or start thinking about getting a new drive.
