wild77 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I am looking to upgrade to a dual layer burner even though my Plextor PX-712 is still going strong after almost two and a half years. I love my Plextor but would like some input from the senior members here on there thoughts on the best burner out there today!
dontasciime Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Pioneer 111 or one of Liteon's New 18x - 20x drives.
lfcrule1972 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Either of those that donta recommended, if you want to do disc scans etc get the Liteon if you just want a top burner and are never going to use the scan stuff then get the Pioneer, I have one and it's a cracking drive.
lmao2k Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I replaced my PX-712A with a PX-760 and am totally happy with it. I also bought a few 7173 drives which are also very good. I bought a liteon 18x and personally I wish I had bought a blow torch since it would of done a better job! Can't speak about the pioneers, but if the current drives are as good as my 104 then buy one too. Hmm infact just buy a lot of different drives and test, its what we do
lfcrule1972 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I prefer the Pioneer DVR111 to my BenQ now lmao2k, it's also far better IMHO than the last NEC I bought which was the 4550A. The BenQ is still very useful tho cos of its scanning qualities but I might (when I can snaffle the cash away from the Mrs) get one of the new 20x Liteon's to try.... Never tried a Plex either but would like to....
chewy Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I was thinking about asking the same question myself, whole new drive situation is a total mess? No new benq's, nec's won't bitsett, samsung is looking up? Liteon? Maybe LG's?
wild77 Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 I think I will give the Pioneer a try, kind of hard to beat the price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827129001 I can keep using the PX-712 for the scanning and reading stuff. The Pioneer seems like a solid drive and everything I have heard has been good, thanks for all the input.
