mattie711 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I am new to this. I have had great success in burning 2 hour movies with the Verbatims. I have some longer moview that use a layer break. I bought DL verbs but then noticed that it said to use only with DL hardware. Will I need to get a new burner in order to burn on the double layer DVD's?
kevdriver Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Mattie, what make and model of burner are you using now? You will need a burner that is capable of DL burning.
mattie711 Posted February 21, 2007 Author Posted February 21, 2007 I am using a Phillips DVD +- R RW. It came pre-installed in my Dell PC I purchase in 09/05. It says DVD 8701 on properties. I looked on the philips website but could not find that product, I do not have the user manual.
kevdriver Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Mattie, Yes it will burn DL discs. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/stor...76/en/intro.htm For your info. This machine has been crossflashed to a benq 1640 also and works extremely well with the 1640 firmware as well.
dontasciime Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 open imgburn select the Philip's writer and right click on description and choose capabilities or tools drive capabilities and see what disc's it can write. I believe the drive you have is a benq1640 which can writer dual layer
