Hi,

I'm new to the Dvd burning game and am looking for some advice, apologies if the answer is in the forum somewhere I have looked. I go through all the stages successfully for burning an iso to dvd and the disc works perfect on pc but when I play on my dvd player (Panasonic DVD-XV10) the picture quality is good but it freezes for a split second then plays on then freezes again etc. My DVD writer is an HP DVD Writer 300n 3.20 which has the latest firmware update ( it's prob a crap writer but it's what came with the pc, i don't know). I'm using Verbatim DVD+R YUDEN000T03 disks. The log for the burn is attached

I know the disks are good but is there anything I can do settings wise to improve the burn or do I ditch the burner for something new, any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

The fault will probably lie with the conversion you did from divx to dvd.

You would be better off burning proper DVD content as a test to see if you writer/ your home DVD player has issues.

Chances are with proper DVD content not something you converted from one format to another you will see your problem go away .It may not but one less variable to worry about

Once you get to that stage choose write speed more suited to your burner

4x is max your writer sees for the disc's, you set it at 8x however that will just default back to max speed disc supports

You might have more luck with 8x media rather than 16x stuff - that drive is old now and won't support the more recent MID's properly.

Just don't forget it only supports DVD+ format discs if ever you buy some more ;)

Dontasciime you must hate it when your right first time. I built an iso file from normal dvd content and the dvd works perfectly in my player. I burned it at 4x speed. The problem has obviously been the divx to dvd conversion, if I had a brain I should have checked this out before wasting your time. I used Xilisofts Divx to Dvd program to do the conversion which obviously hasn't worked very well. Am I wasting my time trying to convert these formats or is there a way to ensure a better quality ie better convertor program. Thanks again.

Thanks LUK for the advice and the program, donation will be forthcoming. I didn't realise Dvd burners were so cheap so I will probably upgrade in the very near future.

The ConvertXtoDVD works a treat, perfect quality throughout, it's even added the spanish subtitles that didn't feature on the Divx footage ( I'm guessing when it was compressed they don't feature but when I've converted to original format the subtitles are there :( ) I think this has been the problem with the Xilisoft convertor, it couldn't cope with the subtitle stream as it didn't show on the burns I did with it.

Thanks again.
