cornholio7 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 well we already told you that the discs are CMC , they are known on this forum for their crappy discs. 2 suggestions 1: get some decent discs 2: try burning these at 4x instead
DKAngel Posted November 30, 2005 Author Posted November 30, 2005 (edited) well we already told you that the discs are CMC , they are known on this forum for their crappy discs. 2 suggestions 1: get some decent discs 2: try burning these at 4x instead im actually asking why this is happening to to be told to use other media u know like maybe my drive is bad cause so far i get a varied yeild like some burn at over 13X perfectly fine and some just dont burn and it isnt just these discs that do it and whats the point and burning at 4x? didnt buy 8x/16x media for no reason Edited November 30, 2005 by DKAngel
cornholio7 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 (edited) so what other discs are giving you problems ? we can only see what you post in your log and both times it has been CMC . help us by posting logs using other media another thing you may want to consider is compressing your image a bit more, it looks like you are trying to fill the disc to the max. bad discs usually don't burn well at their extremeties Edited November 30, 2005 by cornholio7
lfcrule1972 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 If the burns are all on the same discs, you may well get some that are ok and others that are shite - as corny has already said CMC made dye is just about the worst out there. They have no kind of reliability even from the same spindle. If you want to keep using these discs instead of Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden dye then you will have to accept these failures.
dontasciime Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 (edited) Those discs, or rather media code are fine on my burners, but you should stay away from the outer edge of the discs your using, your iso needs to be a little smaller, if this is movie then get shrink and alter its default for image size and drop it down to 4300. if you still get same error, then , see if there is a new firmware for your drive, or put it as master on 80 wire cable, or replace 80 wire cabel with new one, scan your hard drives for errors, and change media to one of the 2 the other guys recommended you use, I have a pioneer 109 and 16x bulpaq TTH02 and have had no problems burning the same amount of data as you but then i am lucky like that and i check every single blank for outer edge quality before i choose to try and put an image on disc that will be getting very very close to the outside edge. lfcrule1972 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 I am using Taiyo Yudens now and they seem happy to burn to the edge but I agree with you that some dyes, including G05's aren't always happy going right to the edge.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 THIS is your error, not 'invalid address for write'. W 12:32:24 Failed to Write Sectors 1676864 - 1676895 - Unknown (Internal Target Failure) (0x44, 0x4B) Your drive is messing up during the burn. Like the others have said, try some different (decent) media.
daysinnfan52 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Are you still having problems? IMGBurn is giving me same problem with a Memorex DL Disc. Could this be caused by CMC?
dbminter Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 The first step in troubleshooting would be to dump the Memorex CMC discs. There is really only one quality DVD+R DL out there and that's the Verbatim DataLife Plus MKM brand. Although I had good results with TDK's brand. However, I would first start with the quality media and work from there. It could be some other problem, but since CMC media is a common troublemaker, the first step in troubleshooting this would be to try quality media first.

So, your telling me I bought duds, and have to be returned? Just bought these from Target JUST TODAY. Guess I will just have to buy some from eBay. Will they even work in another drive, or are they just duds everywhere?
dbminter Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Depends on your definition of work. Some people have no problems with burning CMC media, but they will quickly learn they don't last long or don't playback on various devices when they try to play them. In general just avoid CMC media. They're trash. So, if you can return them, by all means return them. You can try to find DataLife Plus media on eBay, but you're better off ordering them from Amazon.com. That's where I get mine. If you bought Verbatim from Target, then they are CMC. Or you got some Memorex DVD+R DL, which will also be CMC. Verbatim you find in brick and mortar stores like Target will be the Verbatim Life Series. NOT DataLife Plus. Avoid any and all Life Series media you find in stores. Regardless of what they are, CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, or DVD+R DL, will be CMC trash.
