maxnt Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Hello, I am having a tough time getting successful copies....a month ago out of 3 DVDs, I got a one success. Trying again with 4 DVDs.....2 bomb out on "shrink" with data redundancy errors...the other 2 get to different percentages of completion (18% and 81%) and these values change on retrys......and then just hangs the system HARD!...I have to reboot, kick and sceam to get back to normal. Or, go into task manager and kill the imageburn.exe. Got a pretty new HP Pavilion laptop and a Sony 800 DVD Writer so I think my hardware should handle the task..plenty of hard drive space. Windows XP. Anyone got any ideas? I did the upgrade to newest version 2.2. Thanks, maxnt

I was wondering, do I need more system RAM? I only got 512K with this laptop. kevdriver Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 maxnt, your burner is having a bad time trying to read to that media. Recommend getting some Verbatim to burn to. Not sure if Verbatim make RW discs though. Also, Are you running anything else in background while your using Imgburn? Looks like Img is having a hard time getting exclusive rights to your burner. Packet writing software often does this, In CD, etc.......
polopony Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 that media INFOdisc is garbage like KEV says get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden SL discs and if you ever decide to burn Dual layer discs its VerbatimDL +R ONLY

Yeah, bad media and you're getting USB timeout issues. One could be related to the other... who knows. You might like to try the 3.0d firmware update. http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/firmware.htm#810ult

maxnt Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Did the upgrade....new burn went to 11% and died...will get new media tomorrow. Any clue why 2 of 4 DVDs get Data Cyclic Redundancy errors while running "Shrink"?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 When reading or when burning? Sounds like it can't read the disc.

maxnt Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 When reading or when burning? Sounds like it can't read the disc. I get the redundancy errors when running DVD Shrink..so I guess it is when it is reading..........2 of the 4 DVDs give me errors. Thanks, Maxnt
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Shrink can burn too - using the Nero API's - hence why I had to ask Sorry but we can't really help with your reading issues.
maxnt Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 Shrink can burn too - using the Nero API's - hence why I had to ask Sorry but we can't really help with your reading issues. You know what is really weird? The DVDs that give the cyclic errors perform perfectly when played (on same drive). Is it the drive's problem? DVD problem or Shrink problem? Or voodoo !! Thanks, Maxnt
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Assuming these are commercial discs, they're probably protected so Shrink can't read them. Again, sorry but we can't help you with this stuff.
