Having just installed imgburn on a Windows ME system with a LiteOn SOHW-1633S (VBS41) when I run it I get:

Error Reading LITEON_ChangeFor->Items.Strings: A call to an OS function failed

and then imgburn immediately terminates crashing as it does so.

The crash log contains:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\IMGBURN\IMGBURN.EXE 2.2.0.0 caused exception C0000025 at address BFF784C5 (Base: 400000)

Stack dump etc available if of any use.

Any ideas?

Sorry, that's out of my hands. It's not part of my code that's crashing, but the internal workings of how Borland does things.

OS function calls shouldn't fail though, are you running low on memory or something?

No, 512MB of memory. I have imgburn running fine on another ME based system.

Since you said the above I decided to fiddle around with the machine - multiple reboots, swapping around what programs are loaded on start up etc. Suddenly it started working - so I guess that's the route for anyone else who comes across this problem and finds this post. Just try adjusting what you have loaded on the machine and reboot to clear any "left overs".

Thanks for your suggestion anyway - it led to a fix eventually although I'm no wiser as to what was the culprit!

Blimey, you have 2 Windows ME machines?! 1 wasn't punishment enough then huh? ;)

Glad you sorted it in the end.

Well as far as I'm concerned any type of Windows is a punishment. But unfortunately it needs to be used sometimes. ;)
