BENQ DVD DD DW1650 fails burning DVD DL

I've been having trouble burning a couple of DL dvds, 2 coasters sofar.

My drive, a BENQ DVD DD DW1650 has the latest firmware; BCIC, both Solid Burn (for known and unknown media) and WOPC are turned on.

I'm using ImgBurn version 2.3.0.0.

Have to use SPTI as an ASPI layer does not initialize correctly on this drive (neither version 4.6, nor version 4.7).

Media descriptor: RICOHJPN-D01-67

The write error consistently pops up at the same sectors 1976672 - 1976703, which is quite a ways before the layer break,

which should happen at 2059343. The disc image file mounts fine in Daemon Tools and plays back 100% fine, meaning the image is not damaged.

Please advise? Would Verbatim DL-DVDs improve my odds of burning this disc and if so; where do I order them in Europe for an affordable price?

Full log follows.

Yes, Verbatims would much improve your chances of getting a decent burn.

You're actually just getting a 'Write Error' at those sectors which in turn means the retry fails with that 'Invalid Address For Write' error.

Don't worry about the ASPI / SPTI thing, you should have been using SPTI anyway!

I get my discs from www.svp.co.uk

I believe they ship to most places in europe. :)

Thank you for the quick response and getting me a place to order the discs as well. :)

I'll order some over and see if the situation improves.

Glad to report that the Verbatim discs solved the issue. Can burn just fine on them.

(And having them shipped over from SVP in the UK turns out to be cheaper than relying on those cripple store-bought discs to boot.)
