mjpm Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) Hi, I try to backup some data and use ISO+Joliet+UDF (build mode to ISO file). When the auto volume label dialog pops up, it allows 32 chars for ISO, 63 chars for UDF but only 16 chars for Joliet. In the settings Joliet is set to level 1, 1-64 chars. Does Joliet on DVD have a special implementation, is this a bug or am I just missing something to get Joilet to full 64 chars in this combination? Thanks in advance for your help mjpm Edit/addition: I use ImgBurn version 2.3.2.0. Edited April 28, 2007 by mjpm
mjpm Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 Ok, I think I mixed the length of files of folders with the length of volume labels but I still wonder why there are more allowed chars on ISO label than on Joliet label. mjpm
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Joliet is unicode - meaning it uses 2 bytes per character instead of 1. So if the field in the filesystem structure allows for 32 bytes, ISO9660 can have 32 characters, Joliet gets halved to 16.
