Hmm most odd. The 'Close Track' command doesn't appear to be failing but it's taking almost no time at all to complete. I guess it's just reporting that's it's finished way before it actually has.

Next time you burn (or just before it comes to the end of the burn - i.e. at 97% or something), press F8 to enable I/O debug mode.

Then when it's finished (after erroring out etc), press F8 to disable it again.

Save the log and upload it (might be too long for copy + paste).

Ta. :)

I burned the same image again but at 2.4 speed.

No problems were reported.

Finalized with no problems at all.

Setting it to 1x (as you were) wasn't doing anything anyway.

The drive only lists the following...

I 22:10:46 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x)

... i.e. 2.4x and 4x, so it would have ignored the request to burn at 1x and gone with 2.4x anyway.

So it could be a fluke that it worked this time.

On the other hand, you might have uncovered a bug in the drive's firmware.

Keep an eye on things and if it happens again, let me know.
