Disks are screwing up

My fav' disks are starting to fail. It's all the ones I bought in the last year. Is there anyway to tell if they are legit Traxdata's and what can I run on them that I can understand to see what's going on. These are the 4x that I have always used.

Are they failing during the burn or when reading back?

To tell if they're genuine or not, all you can do is see if the disc id looks ok.

Traxdata normally do branded discs though don't they - so you'd see 'TraxData' stamped on them if they're real! (or at least mine are stamped like that).

Burns on 3 different burners, old and new, failing to play back on one player with a disk error. Other machine with some glitches. Players are standalones. The media is proper spool stamped and branded Traxdata like I have always had.

I and (I think corny) had a blip with the Ritek G05 printables recently - I have burnt stacks of these with no probs then had 15 or so shite ones that wouldn't verify etc....

SVP were great and replaced the lot at their expense but I was worried - the latest ones seem to be fine but I hate it when your fave disk/dye goes off....

A few of us had problems with the Ritek G05's lfc, used the remainder of that spindle testing as I burned them off then as recomended by several people here I switched to the Taiyo Yuden and have not looked back

That was about 6 months ago now, shite I think the old forum was still up at the time. ;)

Yeah I knew all about the probs with them when they were first launched - I wasn't affected tho, but these are ones that I had used over and over again for the past 4 months

weird.

i have a batch of g05's where my plextor sees them as 4x discs and my nec sees them as 8x discs which is what they are. if i burn them with the plex , they won't verify , if i burn them with the nec they are perfect  . another batch of the same discs are seen by both writers as 8x <shrug>

Im gonna do the three faulty one again. I am also gonna ISO read and ISO write the same iffy disks out of curiosity.

i also know somebody that has a 3520 burning g04 that wouldn't verify , i took 3 of them home and could read them in iso read but they couldn't on their 3520 :ermm:

btw another firmware sorted that problem out, liggy and dee's , the one that removes the riplock

@LUK!

I have an LG and it's the one bugbear I have that it does not do PI/PIF/Jitter testing. Do you know of any tools that can make this drive do these tests?

Or do I have to buy a Lite On (yecch) just for this?

Ahh, you have a plextor! In that case, you'd use PlexTools.

Bit late but thanks. :-(

I shall have another looksee
