I always used Elaborate bytes clonedvd to burn isos and VideoTS folders etc, and i always used 4x speed. And nero only for data. (And Nero only allows me to burn at 6x or 8x) I decided to search a more advanced specific iso writing program and i came across imgburn and its great!. Anyway to the question: imgBurn says this "Supported Write Speeds: 6x; 8x" same as nero, but i still can select any speed i want in the drop down menu. And i dont know if i should select 8x, i always burned dvd at 4x and i want to achieve best possible results and compatibility, Should i force 4x ? Or select 6x ? (I never used 6x) Or 8x ?. If i select auto imgBurn burns at 8x. I dont care about speed, i just want the best results/compatibility aka: good burn . Oh one more thing The Verbatim box says 1x-8x. So which speed you guys recommend ? mmalves Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Try both speeds and see if one turns out to be better than the other, as we can't say for sure which one is better. Also, always burn with the Verify option enabled, as this ensures that the disc was properly burnt.
alkalinelito Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Both speeds verifies just fine. I just recorded at 6x and 8x I should use the safeest one. But i dont know which one is. I guess i'm going to use 8x from now on, i guess its more "standard" than 6x ( But im probably talking bulls***) . I just fell like 8x is not safeest one since its the max supported speed of the disc. I dont know
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 On those discs, 8x should be perfectly fine. Oh and 'Auto' doesn't do anything unless you configure your settings (media) in the 'Automatic Write Speed' window / dialog. If there's no specific setting for the media / drive, it'll just use whatever 'MAX' is.

Yup, it might be...or someone may come around and decide to post soccer or football or cribbage scores in it and then bitch about the referees and judges and what player did what to who and then it'll go on for ages....
