blutach
Consider a firmware update - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2034 Or you may have some bad disks or the burner may be duff. Note: The log, in text form, is available via the help menu. Regards

My money is on a duff drive: this is a replacement they sent me for the previous one. Any suggestions on what make or model to go for next? I won't bother with HP again after the hassle I had getting them to acknowledge the fault and replace the original.
blutach
I've had great success with LG. Others swear by BENQ. Regards

Nameless One
Problem sorted...with a new sparkly Samsung SH-183A. The media is OK, my system is OK and the drive burns clean. Looks like it was the HP doorstop after all.
