vincentgr Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 On a new computer with a new dvd burner, I tried to burn a disc using dvd flick, which uses imgburn. When it was ready, it tried to verify and that didn't work. than i canceled it and tried to play the disc. Now I can't read the dvd+rw anymore. It tries to spin up and than i hear a click stops. It tries to do that several times and than stops with it. if i use the read mode of imgburn it says during spin up tries "device not ready (logical unit is in process of becoming ready). When it stops spinning up, and the dvd is still in it, it says device not ready (medium not present). I use an Optiarc AD-5170A dvd writer, and my operating system is windows vista home premium. Does anyone know how to solve this and how i can fix that dvd?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 If the drive doesn't like the media, there's nothing you can do about it I'm afraid. Software can't do anything until the hardware recognises it properly (which yours isn't). See if a firmware update fixes the issue, but failing that, you'll have to try some different discs.
vincentgr Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 If i search on google for "firmware ad-5170a" (without quotations), i find alot of sites. Which one is the best to update the firmware?
