Hi, I'm new on this forum.

I have a problem trying to burn Game Cube backups with the ImgBurn.

Every time that I try to burn a game on a Mini DVD the write speed stays at 0.5x, even though I put 4x speed at the drop bar in the main menu.

Plus, the device buffer keeps getting up and down, up and down and never manages to pass the 85%.

I've been using Memorex discs (those are Ritek G04, that it's supposedly to be the best for GC). My burner is an external SONY DRX-720UL used on a laptop, and someone told me that this could be the problem. What should I do?

P.D: English is not my native language, so I might sound a bit weird at times, sorry for that :P.

Mmmmm.....

Not sure if my laptop is USB 2.0..... I bought it brand new in 2005, so I think is 2.0.

I'll try burning using my desk PC, that has USB ports 2.0 for sure. Let's see what happens.

*I forget to mention that the normal size DVDs also have problems when I try to burn isos bigger than 4.35 gb.

first off, update your firmware, your about 4 versions behind , its up to JYO8 now and your on JY02

your connection could still be in doubt as to wether its USB1 or USB2

Still looks like usb 1

If that is usb 2 then something has gone horribly wrong.

look in device manager under universal serial bus controllers.

Look for Enhanced

Ok.

I'm using the spanish version of Windows XP, and managed to found this:

Controlador de Host de PCI a USB Mejorado

Standard Enhaced PCI to USB Host Controller (these is the translation of what it says above)

It doesn't appear anything of the second step that you posted above, just these thing with the "Mejorado" (Enhanced). It doesn't says if it is USB 2.0 or anything.

HOWEVER, in the Everest, on PCI Devices I found this: ATI SB400 - USB 2.0 Controller

jejeje I'm confused now :/

are you just using xp pro or is it service pack 1 or service pack 2

try another usb port and if same then try another usb cable

failing that you may not have drivers in to set agp/gart/ide/etc

edit forgot you posted log, xp home service pack 2

do not forget to udpate firmware either when you get sorted

also my screenshots were from 2 different computers and the description in device manager can vary so do not wory about the usb2 as long as their is enhanced listed.
