What causes slow "Synchronising cache" process?

Whenever I get to this part of burning, it takes a while. Right now, it has been on it for about 4 hours. I pressed F8 to check if it was still communicating with my drive, and it is. Also, AnyDVD is disabled.

Normally it's because the drive doesn't like the media.

 

Usual old stuff really, check for firmware updates, try different discs (Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens), clean the drive.
