Device: [0:0:0] SONY DVD RW AW-G170A 1.73 (I:) (ATA) ScsiStatus: 0x02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 Interpretation: Read (10) - Sector: 0 Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 64 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Illegal Mode For This Track When I try to open the DVD afterwards, It's empty... I have tried burning ISOs and VIDEO_TS folders with no luck. Any help apreatiated... Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Please post a copy of the log. Generally speaking, this kind of problem just means the drive is producing bad burns on the media. To fix problems: 1. Update the firmware on the drive. 2. Slow the burn down to half the rated speed of the media. 3. Only use *decent* discs! We recommend Verbatim (MCC dye) and Taiyo Yuden. 4. Get a different drive.

dontasciime Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 operation successful but very poor media Made in India. Get some better media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim MCC or even Verbatim TY
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Yeah, the 'Write' operation was successful but that doesn't mean the drive can then read the disc back! That's why you need to do the Verify bit too. If that's always failing - even when you're burning at 8x, ditch those discs and get some better ones.
Ezra Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I've had this problem as well using 2 different types of discs that I've never had problems with before. Also tried 2 different drives. Happened after I upgraded to v2.3.2 from 2.1. Now have a new error msg to do with FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME and the discs verify ok but still can't read them...
