Harri Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Hi folks, I got some *.ts file (about 7.5 GByte, 1920x1080i, AFAICS), and I would like to write it in HD-DVD format on a DVD+-R (DL) without loosing resolution or sound quality. Is this supported? I understand that it won't play in a regular DVD player, of course, but it should play on a HD-DVD player. Regards Harri

dontasciime Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I should imagine you will lose quality putting it on dvd with dvd playback mpeg2 being 10.08mbps or is it 9.8mbps, lower than the bitrate of hd-dvd.
LOCOENG Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 There will usually be some loss of quality as the output won't be exactly as the source. I'd also recommend +r DL and advise to stay away from the -R's.
chewy Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 might get a bit over an hour of video at 10000Mbps on a dual layer my h264 file of 26 min went to 2.6 gigs when I converted and burned to single layer wonder if they will ever get standalones playing mkv's
Harri Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 See if this is what you are looking for... http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=126676 Nope, AFAICS the suggested procedure converts the *.ts file to some other format. I don't want to loose resolution. And surely I don't want to change the bitrate. Using Xine the *.ts file plays fine in 1920x1050i (verified on a Dell 2407WFP). According to Wikipedia there is some format called 3x DVD. Can Imgburn generate this format? If not, then I would guess this would be a cool extension. Regards Harri
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 ImgBurn is just a burning tool. What goes in is what gets put on the disc. If you want to convert anything to fit the target media (when it's from a larger source), that's your problem and you'll have to find the suitable tools to do it I'm afraid. It's not something ImgBurn does or will ever do.
chewy Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=705146 this article talks about the burning profile for such disks to play on a hd-player Enable Xbox compatibility mode
