spinningwheel Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 DDX; Hi and welcome. While the Blue Ray disc is seen as a 2x disc by the burner I can't seem to find anything about your mid on the web. 2X is the max it will write but the laws of physics explain to us that max speed isn't reached until the later sections of the disc. You're burning what...3 gigs onto a 35 - 50 gig disc?..it's never going to get to top speed at that rate. I see that you're reading at a greater speed, but reading doesn't entail the work that burning does. Maybe someone else has a different explanation, but I gave it my best shot since I do not have a BD burner, player or disc...
chewy Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 was the disk erased(full) first? according to luk's review of the verbatim rewrittable it took 45 minutes agent009 the cdfreaks reviewer has used that mid and said it works, but he's using a sony blu-ray recorder
mmalves Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Go to Tools/Settings/Write tab and enable the DVD-RAM / BD-RE FastWrite option. Your discs should now be burnt at 2x from start to finish
DDX Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 thnx, the FastWrite option fixed the problem For DVD-RAM, fastwrite kinda disables the DVDRAM standard 'Write + Verify' technique so that it just performs the 'Write' part. That speeds up the burn process. Some dvdram burner or ok with that, others may produce sub-standard discs. Using the programs builtin verify feature is a VERY good idea if FastWrite is enabled - at least until your know your drive can burn properly. but why is it only writing at 1.1speed if i disable the fastwrite option ? (Nero also burns max 1.1speed and doesn't have a fastwrite option)
chewy Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 from what I googled those disks have a builtin dvd-ram functionality, mounting as a volume supported in vista the native(not imgburn) verify part that going on with fast write disabled is reading everything that's written and doing error checking as it's burned that's why it's burning at half speed so in effect you have been verifying twice on each burn
