iamme99 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I have a 5GB folder (x number of files) that I need to put on DVD to send to someone. I followed the instruction guide and built an ISO file of the folder. I then tried to write this ISO file to a DVD+R DL disc. IB got maybe halfway through and crapped out. The log is below and I don't know what the problem is, so I am wary of maybe wasting more discs trying again. I then figured maybe I could use a standard disc (single layer) but the ISO file is too large and it doesn't look like IB supports automatic spanning. Any help would be appreciated! ======================================== I 09:52:26 Operation Started! cornholio7 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 grab some verbatim discs, those ritek's aren't very good
iamme99 Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 grab some verbatim discs, those ritek's aren't very good So you are saying that these discs are all bad or that IB can't handle this type? They are Memorex discs which I thought was a good brand. I'd hate to have to throw $35 worth of DVD's in the garbage dump.
Jim44 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 grab some verbatim discs, those ritek's aren't very good So you are saying that these discs are all bad Yes, that's what he's saying. The ONLY reliable DL discs are Verbatim DVD+R DL.
chewy Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 it's not imgburn, it's a combination of bad disks and an older burner by the way that's a premium single layer burner that was rebranded(benq 1640) and then marked up by plextor your firmware is about 6 months older than the latest benq 1640 firmware you could try the crossflash but it's rather complicated and confusing http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=155281 http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=171380 many of the links are dead but the important ones work there's no pressing reason to use dual layer for a data burn anyway, unless your trying to burn a 5 gig iso
iamme99 Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 I will upgrade the firmware. Thanks. I made an .ISO file because that is what I thought I had to do form reading the IB docs. But since these are data files can I just drag a bunch of them to 2 single layer DVD discs? IB only seems to support one file at a time, not creating a project with multiple data files like CD software I use. Is this correct?
dontasciime Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 try compressing to Rar might take a while then fit on 1 single layer
iamme99 Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 ???? I searched for new firmware but the version I have now is the latest PLEXTOR PX-740A (OEM BENQ DW1640) - 1.02 I am also building a new computer now. What DVD-DL drive should I buy if I want to get a new one? What is best recommendations? Do DVD drives have SATA connections now?
dontasciime Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 sata dvd writers you have a few to choose from. Pioneer Samsung Liteon Have a look in the drives and media section
mmalves Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 IB only seems to support one file at a time, not creating a project with multiple data files like CD software I use. Is this correct? Use the Build mode to do that. Have a look in the Guides forum if you're in doubt
