tej1210-Linda Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 I hope someone can help me because I don't know anything about this "firmware" stuff. I'm scared to change anything on this computer as it is pretty new. My niece and her friends fried my last PC nice huh? Ok on with my problem, or problems... My firmware number is 0414, do I need to update? If so, how and where? I have had nothing but problems since I got this computer...(VISTA, Compaq Pressario) anyway I would burn with Roxio (preinstalled) and it would be just fine, next 10 burns were errors and had to throw disk after disk. Have tried all different kinds of DVD disks, thinking that was the problem, to no avail. I downloaded Imgburn, the first DVD was great, not a problem, now everyone is error again. Callibration Area Error... Contacted tech (HP tech I think it was or Compaq) and they sent me to a webpage that did nothing to help me. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP!!! The disks that I just bought are Memorex LightScribe DVD+R,16x. Not even going to try these until I find out what to do with this machine. Thanks, Linda
blutach Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Welcome to ImgBurn Forum Linda. What drive do you have? Open ImgBurn and switch to write mode and cut and paste the info in the top right (it will be in grey). Once we know this, we can recommend up to date firmware. New PCs especially, seem to be several versions behind. The blank disks we recommend are either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Anything else is just inferior and cheap. You really want to check what's called the MID code. Again, in write mode, insert a blank and see the DISC-ID info in the top right. Regards

Thank you very much for your time! I burned a DVD on the Light Scribe Memorex DVD this morning and it worked! (could this computer only take the light scribe disks?) They never really help fix a problem as far as I'm concerned!
chewy Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 regarding memory(ram) not our early zimers http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx this is a good place to start it's fairly easy i to install, depending upon the make and model of your computer, sometimes the hardest part is opening the case or matching ram up to your system you have to remember to turn off the computer(duh!) unplug the power etc regarding sonic, I wonder how they knew it was the problem? I guess they would considering they put it on your computer in the first place. sonic was roxio or poxio as I like to call them

I guess they would considering they put it on your computer in the first place. sonic was roxio or poxio as I like to call them she had me burn a CD, it was fine, burn a DVD with music, it was fine... I said "but that's music, not a movie"... she said "I know"... then told me it was not the recorder, probably Roxio... now I have a problem with my photo program since she had me do all that crap, so have to uninstall reinstall... such fun! Wonder why she would not let me update firmware? The techs they hire must be just out of school... I used to never have a prob, if I did I could fix it every time! Thanks...cya later cutie! lol
