Jonny Wright Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Hi all, Im getting an error: Device Not Ready (Logical Unit is in process of becoming ready) What exactly does it mean? I tried waiting thinking the app was waiting for another process to finish using the disk (maybe autorun or something) but after waiting for ages still get nothing. Sorry if im being thick im new to this app although so far only good to say about it! Thanks in advance Jonny Wright
volvofl10 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 have you got a blank disc in the drive ? is the drives tray closed ? if the answer to oth questions is YES, then its most likely the drive does not "see" or recognise the blank media , do you have the correct drive selected in the "destination box" in write/build mode
Jonny Wright Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 Hi, No I havn't got a blank disk in the drive, Yes the tray is closed. Its a DVD with data already on it, im trying to make an image of the disk on my PC. Yes I also have the correct drive selected in the destination box. Thanks for the quick response btw
volvofl10 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 if its hanging on "Device Not ready" then it means the disc is not being recognised, try cleaning the disc and try again . if the disc is scratched to pieces , thsi may stop it being recognised as well. does it recognise all other discs ok ? can you put a blank disc in the drive and select WRITE mode, then copy and paste the info from the information window on the right hand side of IB in here
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 If there's no disc in it, it certainly shouldn't be returning that status. It only does that after you put a disc in it and it then initialises it. Only when it's finished that stage can software access it.
Jonny Wright Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Ive just noticed on the DVD case that the DVD is "Copy Protected". Im guessing this could be something to do with it?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Protected or not, if the drive can't read the disc then you can't play it! - and I'm sure you'll agree that's a bit of a problem
Jonny Wright Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 Yeah I do agree. Its very strange. Most of my disks work. I think ill just put this down to an unexplainable stroke of bad luck and leave it. Oh well. Thanks for all replies, and @ LIGHTNING UK!, great software...Genius
Jonny Wright Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 (edited) Just had an idea and thought I would try it...tried to read the disk in DVD Decrypter and it read it instantly? Perhaps a problem somewhere? EDIT: When I opened it in DVD Decrypter I had to set the region code. Once I had done this ImgBurn opened it fine aswell. Strange, I have been reading DVDs in both apps without having to do this before? Edited October 23, 2007 by Jonny Wright
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Ejecting + reinserting the disc could have fixed it anyway. As I say, it's not normal for a drive to get stuck 'becoming ready' forever.
