copy protection problem?

Hi

Im new at dvd burning . I recorded an image then burnt it and got a garbled video with good sound like the copy protection on my sony player gave when i tried a copy disk. I get this result on my pc and on my now cheap player. The log says that everything was successful , I looked up the forum for similar probs and followed their advice . ive got imation dvd-r discs

What was the 'source' of the disc - an original DVD? ImgBurn cannot copy original copy protected discs.
