Recently it has started playing up and acting very odd and I was hoping someone could give some pointers. Here is a recent log of two attemps. And this is wht is happening most of the time at the moment. Disc starts and then after approx 15-19 seconds it goes 100% and disc failed. dontasciime Posted November 11, 2007 Share Posted November 11, 2007 Try a Cd cleaner, check you IDE cable make sure it's 80 wire and connected as Master. If your using nvidia IDE drivers just use MS ones. Update thirdparty IDE controller driver if jmicron. Try removing the controller from device manager and let windows pick up drivers again. As a last resort I have changed the drive and it does appear that the Pioneer was the problem. (it had only burnt about 50-60 discs !!!) Currently mid burn so I will confirm when done. Bubble999 Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share Posted November 11, 2007 Hi I have updated the firmware from the HP site today so I would assume it is one of the latest for the drive. As far as burning slow I have done this mainly to get a better quality of burn (Especially on Dual Layer) Currently mid burn of a DVD+R set to auto and it is only at 1.5x Which seems very odd. dontasciime Posted November 11, 2007 Share Posted November 11, 2007 your log file shows HJ86 which is not the latest according to the last link in my last post but as I said I cannot guarantee that firmware is for your drive, it says it is and I know I comes after H (though that does not exactly mean its newer, the date on it is though) but its up to you if you decided to upgrade further and yes burn at 2.4x on dual layer but modern media likes 8x or higher especially 16x speed discs and if your using AUTO you would have had to tell it a value to use AUTO EG a speed and then type of dye disc media code Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
