Finding the correct Layer Break or creating an accurate MDS using an iso

Yes (most of the time!), if the image was made correctly in the first place.

ImgBurn will examine the IFO's and seek out potential LB positions and show them to you in the normal LB selection window - the one you're probably more used to seeing in Build mode.

So if the ISO wad made correct the first time, for example if you use read mode, and kept the same layerbreak, would it be ok to burn without the MDS? I am guessing it would bring up the layer break box, but the only option would be the original wouldn't it?

No, it shouldn't be. There are often many places where a legal LB can be placed.

But why bother? Use file mode for maximum flexibility in editing anyway.

What is file mode?

Yes, building of files, rather than taking an ISO.

Sorry for the confusion.
