harsen Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I'm having a problem. I need to write at 4x speed or lower, but even though I set ImgBurn to write at 4x speed, the write "rate" is always at 6x speed or higher. The optical writer I am using is LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S PS0B (ATA) and the Media I am using is Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00 Book Type: DVD+R Memorex DVD+R Help!
cornholio7 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 further up in the log , what are the shown supported speeds, if the lowest is 6x then imgburn will choose that
harsen Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 (edited) I 12:36:16 Source File File System(s): None I 12:36:17 Destination Device: [0:3:0] LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S PS0B (E:) (ATA) I 12:36:17 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) However, I've burned with the same Media on a different writer which will let me do 2x, 4x etc Edited November 21, 2007 by harsen
dontasciime Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Cornholio7 is right 6x will be the lowest the liteon can burn those disc's and you should set the booktype to DVD-ROM from the book icon and liteon tab to increase the chances of playback on your home dvd player
dontasciime Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 However, I've burned with the same Media on a different writer which will let me do 2x, 4x etc you will have to use that writer then as the liteon will not allow it. Why burn so slow as modern media is best burnt at 8x to rated speed as drives are optimised to do that. However I and many users prefer to burn at 8x as you get the most benefit
cornholio7 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I 12:36:16 Source File File System(s): None will this even work?
harsen Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 I changed the mode to DVD-ROM and burned on 8x, and the disc worked flawlessly. Thanks!
blutach Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Modern media might burn well at 8x (some even at 16x) but Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00 is worthless at any speed. Regards
