slow speed device buffer dancing

:geek: I have tryed two different brands of disc and im onlly getting low speeds and dancing device buffer it is a new drive i installed the speed starts at 1.4 and drops to 0

check the FAQ about DMA issues in short remove the IDE controller from device manager reboot and try again.

first move is to check out the FAQ page HERE 2nd post down .

see if that cures it :thumbup:

i even tryed moving files to different hard drive!

Did you actually read the posts above and do what they said?

 

You have DMA issues. The FAQ tells you how to correct them.

yes i did i am running utra dma

So you actually deleted the IDE controller and rebooted?

 

Then when you go back and look at the channels it says Ultra DMA 4?

i have two primarys and 2 secondarys 1 says 4 1 says 5 1 says 2 1 says 4

Sometimes windows can report that a drive is operating in Udma 5, 4 or whatever number it reports.

 

Windows lies

 

In order to fix it you have to go to device manager and uninstall the primary and secondary ide then reboot windows and let windows pick up the drivers again for it to correct the stuck dma

OK I THINK ITS OK BOTH BUFFER HOLDS 100 PERCENTCENT I THINK YOU ARE GREAT TO HELP ME :thumbup:

Now I'm just confused....

Please tell me what I need to do to make it clearer so other people dont claim they've followed the FAQ when really they've not done the one thing that it actually tells you to do to fix the problem.
