Yink27 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I received an I/O error while attempting to burn an iso using the latest version of Imgburn. I am using a new batch of Verbatim discs bought from BestBuy, and this is the first time I have had that problem. When I attempted to burn the iso to a cheap Memorex DVD, there was no error. What is the problem? Here is the burn log: I 08:32:40 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 You just had a write error. (drive couldn't write to the media) Throw the disc in the bin and try another one.
Yink27 Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 (edited) You just had a write error. (drive couldn't write to the media) Throw the disc in the bin and try another one. I just made another coaster. Could it be something with the drive firmware? Maybe the drive needs to be replaced? Could it be this spindle of Verbatim discs? The packaging did look different, even though it was from Best Buy. Edited November 27, 2007 by Yink27
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Well they are 16x discs and the drive is only capable of 8x on them... that's never a good sign. Your firmware is up-to-date but it's still old, if you know what I mean? Maybe now would be a good time to invest in a 'new' model drive?
Yink27 Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 I'm able to burn now, I think it was just a bad stretch of blank DVDs. However, right at the end of burning, during the lead out, I get the message: I 09:32:22 Synchronising Cache... W 09:32:31 Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - (0/2) - Session Fixation Error Writing Lead Out I 09:32:47 Image MD5: 63ae2a05b482ce79a4b8d4e685449c37 What does this error mean? The DVDs appear to play well.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 It means basically the same as the first error did - the drive is having issues writing to the media.
Yink27 Posted December 7, 2007 Author Posted December 7, 2007 Well they are 16x discs and the drive is only capable of 8x on them... that's never a good sign. Your firmware is up-to-date but it's still old, if you know what I mean? Maybe now would be a good time to invest in a 'new' model drive? I think I'll take your advice and invest in a new burner. What are some good "new" model drives? My computer specs: Compaq, 901 Mhz (very slow), 384 MB of RAM
