You have a problem READING from the hdd (or wherever that 'THE_FOX_AND_THE_HOUND.I03' file is stored).

Time to run chkdsk on the drive. Hopefully it's not screwed or you'll need to start looking at buying a new one.

Actually a new burner would be at least half the price of a new HDD, depending on how big the HDD the savings could be an even greater over a new burner.

My HDD is a 100g external (IOMEGA) and it was 100 something and my Sony external burner was over 200!, but ya your right, HDD's are spendy, but getting better, my cuz just got a terrabite for 400 i think, or right around there!

I also have been getting this error about 1 out of every 5 discs I'm using. There Maxell DVD+R 4.7GB, I've never ran into problems before, I recently bought 200 of them (10 I've scrapped, I don't care that much though, he it just confuses me). I upgraded to, a WD 500GB External, and a LG LightScribe burner (internal). Now, if I try to reburn the same iso, it gives the same error, I never really thought about it till I read this thread, but If I burn that exact same iso with VSO Blindwrite or something else it does fine. The only time I've had a problem with imgburn is after I got a new burner and new HD, and the images are coming from the external drive. Is this a media issue, I can't see it being anything else, unless I need to tweak some settings in Imgburn, and yes I know 1st rule no LoG = chair.gif

i would try burning the same iso to a verbatim or taiyo yuden disc and see if you get the same result.

a log would show us the MID , you can find it under help->imgburn logs, just copy/paste the relevant log

1 burn bad but then the next 3 fine, all same media. Actually this error is different, on the pop-up it says crc error...but in the log I get totally different.

unfortunately ,cmc is regarded by many as one of the worst dye manufacturers , i would expect your crc errors to disappear if you use verbs or yudens

i would slow the burn down to 8x as well from an external hdd when you get those buffer underruns

Didn't know that, useful information, like I said, never experienced any problems with them, I have a HP DVD Burner and only supports 4x write and never once had a coaster with this program, that's why I thought it was unusual. I'll buy some normal VB next time, I have Verbatim, Color LightScribe CDR, and Verbatim original color DVD+R and everyone has burned fine....if I can remember if I actually burned them all with IMGB.....so why just the error with imgburn and not blindwrite for instance, does that mean 50-50 chance I have a bad "disc" burn then? Oh, it's nice now that I know your here "cornholio" now I can bug ya all the time

Just to clarify something: - ImgBurn (or any other burning program for that matter, including Blindwrite), has nothing to do with the quality of your burn. Everything is dependant on the quality of the drive and the quality of your media. All ImgBurn does is send a set of commands to the drive. It's then up to your drive to figure out what to do next. Also, CMC media is garbage. If you have any left, toss them into the bin and save yourself some pain.

Thanks to all didn't see the updated firmware. Also, like I said, that media before with my HP DVD burner never once failed. That doesn't seem odd? Anyway, I will switch from here on out, also, I use Memorex (cause it's cheap and no errors), so thanks, and I'll see what happens after updates and switched media.
