Cant get TV/DVD player to read discs(now w/ log)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

i dl'ed dvd flick and imgburn as a suggestion from another board because i would burn discs, and could view them but couldnt hear the sound on the TV. Anyway, burned the same TS file via img burn using a CD+R Dynex. Now the TV/DVD player says it cant play disc and playback funtion isnt allowed.

SO i guess I am asking...does the problem lie in the fact that I need Verbatim discs as suggested here, or does imgburn burn it different than the program i used before...or is my DVD player not compatible with the way imgburn burned it. fairly new at this and after 2 days about to pull my hair out. any help is apprecaited

could vista be the underlying problem?

sure, how do i go about doing that..sorry im not sure how

do you mean after the burn is complete and the disc pops out, click on verify in the box up top and then tell you what it says?

Click the verify box BEFORE you burn, then it'll do both, one after the other.

Once that's done, copy + paste everything from the Log window (Click the View menu and then 'Log' to make it visible - and then don't close it next time :) )

'TV System' ?

Maybe it's a PAL / NTSC issue then.

Is whatever you're trying to burn/play in the correct format for your hardware?

not sure what a PAL/NTSC is, but how come i could see it but not hear when i dl'ed ith with win dvd, but now not at all..i guess that is what i was kind of getting at..does imgburn, burn it a diff way than other players

about to burn another disc...go to the DVD file and it says audio_TS and video_TS

am i suppose to be opening the audio file as well?

now when i go to burn, it displays:

ISO Write mode is for burning disc images, not VIDEO_TS files

Switch to ISO Build mode, add your video_ts folder to the list and then create image

if you dint know what you're doing, read some guides

what did i do wrong this time?

Where's the verify bit?

Or is that as far as it got?

You've got 16x media there and the drive is only showing 4x as a supported speed - which basically means it doesn't support it.

If a drive doesn't support the media properly you'll get a rubbish burn.

So get yourself some decent Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media and try again.

off to the store...it plays on my laptop and pc but not my tv..strange..im wondering if its the DVD player

If it plays in the pc (from the drive you were buring in?) why didn't your log include info from the verify stage too?

You seem to have cut it short.

how come my dvd-rom drive opened when done?

Posted
It's meant to do that. When using a laptop burner you have to re-close it manually. A normal writer will eject (cycle) and the close and start to verify.
