blutach Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 This is a very rare error. You need to check all the usual suspects - the blank disk, DMA, firmware, the cable connection and the drive itself as well as whether your SPTI/ASPI is installed OK. Does this happen on all blanks? Or is it an isolated occurrence? Try with a DVD+R (not RW) and see if it burns OK. Regards
chewy Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 that dvd burner first came out 4 1/2 years ago, that's almost prehistoric rather than waste time and blanks I would suggest a new drive
chewy Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 New laser write strategies for 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD+R and 4x DVD+RW media. The firmware update will NOT allow the DVD300 drive to write at 8x speeds. The DVD300's maximum recording speed is 4x no matter what recordable DVD media is utilized. Further support of black CD-R media. Improvement in readability of certain DVD+RW media. Improved strategies to increase the number of writes to DVD+RW and CD-RW media. Other general errors resolved. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...=en&lang=en nothing to lose trying to update the firmware

chewy Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Blutach wasn't saying there was anything wrong with those disks, just that old a drive(especially with that firmware) doesn't like them
jaymac Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Thank you very much Dontasciime now got it Appreciate that chewy will try different discs Thanks again
jaymac Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Query please Dontasciime the file from you is 2.85 M/b as opposed to the HP site where it is over 4 M.b any reason for this Thanks
dontasciime Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 yes I compressed it with 7zip , extract it and it will magically turn back into Size: 4.31 MB (4,520,840 bytes) Size on disk: 4.31 MB (4,521,984 bytes)
