I am trying to download an AVI Video but when I go to write the file it gives the error message "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format". Do I have to rename the file?

go to the above website, click on 1.0c and save it on your pc, make sure there is no disc in the drive, double click on the downloaded firmware, avoid accidental power down when flashing , just follow the onscreen instructions , let the firmware install and afterwards, reboot your pc

 

I have done as you suggested and installed the new firmware. The device is there but I am still getting an error message about being incompatible. Tomorrow I will buy a Verbatim disk, and if that does not work buy a new burner...

Now boss, there are still some folks who insist on W98 and even W95!
