no_pulse Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I bought the Lite-On LH-20A1H burner and when I burn a DVD+R at 16x with Verbatim media, the highest I've seen the Write Rate is inbetween 12x and 13x. Is there something causing the DVD Burner to not burn at a Write Rate of 16x? I have upgraded my firmware for the drive to LL0C, and I checked all HD's and Burners are they are all in DMA Mode and not PIO. Is it actually burning at 16tx even thought the Write Rate says 13x, could it be displaying it wrong? Also, could the HD being fragmented have anything to do with not achieving the proper write rate? I also noticed under settings where it says Write Speed, it goes to 56x. If I accidently select 52x or 56x as the write speed for a 16x DVD+R Media, will it try and burn it at 52x or 56x, or does it recognize that the speed selected is too high and burn at the max speed for the Media which would be 16x? I apologize if these questions have been answered before. I searched for a related question, but didn't find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 How are your buffers when burning? Are they rock solid on 100%? If not, that's why it won't burn faster - there's something in your system that's limiting the max speed. It doesn't matter what you *try* and set the speed to, the drive will ignore it and go to the next closest supported value.

Sometimes they drop to zero. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 You should really post a copy of the burn log. You might also like to include a copy of the IBG file - export it manually via the 'File' menu if ImgBurn isn't set to do it automatically.
