On return I got a message saying that "finalise the disc failed" (see log below). Any hints why and what I can do to get it right? dontasciime Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Have a look on rpc1.org and check to see if the 1.03 firmware is for your drive. Seems to be (have a search on google and see what other users of that drive say) http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?cate...p;manufactor=18 If it is then maybe update your firmware to 1.03 and see if that helps. Those drives are pretty poor and troublesome as seems to be the complete range of matshita drives

edowns Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 A snag Downloaded and ran the program. It checked the drive, OK then asked me to open the draw which I did, I then got a message "F/W loader does not apply to the DVD/CD-RW that you are using" I not that the firmware is associated with Sony VAIO while I have a HP machine, but the device is the UJ-832S. Again, and tips?

The bad news is that it stoped after half an hour (log below). Also good to have done a firmware upgrade - even if you did all the work and simply clicked the OK prompt. blutach Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 That means little when burning a DL disk. It may burn CDs fine (it's at a different focus) and even SL DVDs, but getting it to focus on layer 1 might be problematic. That's where a cleaning might come in handy. Regards

So at least I know it is possible to burn DL DVDs with the sioftware and hardware that I have got , .... just not a very clever thing to do! Again thanks to all who tried to help.
