Image is shaky on DVD player, but fine on computer

We have burnt a DVD from our camcorder tape. We edited the video using Ulead Video Studio 7 SE Basic and exported it as a .avi file. I then used DVD Flick to create an ISO image of the video, and burnt it to DVD (have tried both Sony DVD-R and Maxell DVD-R) using ImgBurn. I did the Sony one on the 'Max' write speed (8x) and the Maxell one on 4x.

 

When I play back the DVD on the computer, it plays fine, but on the DVD player (Panasonic DMR-E55EB), the image is shaky. When the picture is still, there is no problem, but whenever the camera moves, the picture will shake.

When you say the picture will shake...what do you mean? Is it vibrating or is it stuttering as though the action constantly freezes and unfreezes?

 

The log shows that the disc was burned and then the burn was verified, that indicates that whatever you have in your .iso is exactly the same as what you have on your disc. I don't believe the problem indicated belongs to IB but rather to the system you used to produce the .iso.

 

You can also ditch the Ritek discs and buy some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus discs made in Taiwan, not China or Indonesia.

The picture isn't stuttering, but is more as if the horizontal lines on the screen are not moving in sync and so, for example, what should be a vertical line appears as a zig-zag.

 

When I play the DVD on the computer the picture is fine. If there was a problem in creating the iso, then would it be fine here?

things are never that simple, I have had lots of problematic burns from age/crap media/old burners/wornout players and never seen your problem

I had thought of that chewy, but, since it's reported as only happening on movement shots and not constant ones so I ruled that one out. I agree that the player is what needs to be looked at, if only to give it another source to check performance from.

 

Bennett, stand alone players conform to a similar but not identical set of commands that are not necessarily used by the creating device. The optical drive on your machine reads byte by byte whereas the algorithm in a stand alone has the ability to 'fudge' a little when it hits a sector it doesn't understand but which is still within parameters. I've not used Uleads software for quite some time, but I do know that Pinnacles software does some strange things to video data streams.
