bigbear52 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Hi I have lost count of how many coaster's I have made. First it was the FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME problem which I have managed to sort with help from this forum. Now I get the failed burn with approx 85% completed. Any help to find out why this is happening appreciated. Error log I 20:13:07 ImgBurn Version 2.3.2.0 started! spinningwheel Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 There is a newer firmware for your drive. Right click on your drive in IB and scroll to the bottom of the drop box. Click on the firmware check thingy and update. W 20:13:34 DeviceIoControl(IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL) Failed! - Media change notification has NOT been disabled. Return IB to defaults and this warning will go away. I shouldn't cause a burn failure anyway, but default is the only way to go unless you really know what you're doing with the program.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Don't burn at 4x, new drives are optimised for speed, especially with decent media. Go for 8x at least (12x would be fine). How did you solve the FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME error? Hopefully not by just turning off the 'exclusive access' option! It's very unusual to get the 'Invalid Address For Write' as the first error. Normally it occurs after a write error but your log doesn't show anything like that.

The FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME error was solved by using the process explorer and uninstalling the program that was conflicting with IB. Thanks again for the help
