mk124red Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hi, I am trying to burn a wedding video onto a dual layer DVD+R, it plays fine in new machines but will not in older players. I beleive this is down to the booktype/bitsetting that needs to be changed to DVD-ROM. I have a Samsung NP-Q35 with a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D burner. I created a VIDEO_TS file in my burn software (DVD Architect) and then using IMG DVD to burn the disk. Once I have "Built" it and chosen a layer break I go to write mode and choose change booktype. I go to Samsung and choose Drive (For DVD+R DL Media), the current setting shows "Unknown (Drive dosen't report it!)". I choose a new setting of DVD-ROM and click change. Sucsess is displayed. I then click OK and start the burn. Everything goes fine but I still have the same problem with playing in older dvd players. I am convinced it is a booktype issue and my drive will not change it, either that or I'm doing something wrong. I have put the log below, any help would be great, and if it is my burner could anyone reccomend a burner that will allow booktype changing within IMGBurn. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Do you verify your burns? Maybe your old players just don't like burnt DL discs at all? Have you ever had/used any that work? It doesn't matter if you go via an image file or burn directly to the drive. Going to the drive directly is obviously just a bit quicker and saves the intermediate step.

I do verify my burns and is ok. I have used the player to play dual layer dvd purchased in shops before. If you are sure my burner will work would it be possible to give me exact instructions as to how to burn in DVD-ROM. I am just about to try again. Many thanks for your quick responses.
dontasciime Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 As long as you have not unticked one of the settings ImgBurn will Auto book type +R to DVD-ROM on your drive and from the info you have posted it is being set to DVD-ROM so this not your problem. Does that older dvd player still play anything. You tried another backup in it
