Change email for forum

hi,

I am having a problem changing my email address for the forum. When I input the new email address, I get a message that the email address is already in your data base. This has to be an error since it is my email address and I have never registered for the forum in the past and only registered a few weeks ago.

Is there a way this can be fixed so I can use the desired email address?

I set up a gmail account for all the forums I belong to so my updates don't clutter my Outlook.

Yes, this is the reason I want to change my email address, I can't get the system to accept the new email address.
