I'm new to this forum and need help. The discs I'm using have worked before, but now they don't. I'm trying to burn an iso to a DVD-R, but it's not working. Can someone please help me out? Thanks

kaloosa, Check for a firmware update for your burner and also those blanks are pretty trashy. CMC MAG dye really suck big time. Best try some Verbatim DVD-Rs as they are the only ones that give consistantly great burns. :) Leave all Imgburn setting on default as these will work best in the majority of burns.

I will thanks!

Do you have any other suggestions for the type of disc I should use? I checked the Staples website and they only carry DL Verbatim discs. I checked the Staples site b/c there is a Staples is right next to my job and I would like to go there after work to pick up some discs.

I really appreciate the help.

Cool. But are there any other brands that are good? One that I could find in stores (i.e. Sony, Imation, Memorex, Fujifilm). Any of those or others that are good?

We only use Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden media. Everything else is questionable.

FWIW, the brand name means nothing as companies often outsource the manufacturing process. This means that several brands can be made by the same company and sold under different labels. It's the dye used that's important and not the brand used.

Really? That's pretty amazing to hear that. I'll keep that in mind. I think I'm going to try that Meritline site I was suggested to.

This sounds like a good set of discs from what I hear. What do you guys think?

Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R Media

Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R Media General Purpose Version 2.0 are for data and video and come on 100 disc spindle. These disc are compatible with DVD-R burners that use DVD-R media for general purpose Version 2.0. These DVD-R's are very high quality and reliable.

Authentic Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media, made to the highest standards. Highest quality, suitable for duplication and public distribution. Features archival quality AZO metal dye for today's longest archival playback capabilities. Should last up to 100 years or longer in normal cool dark storage conditions.

Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden

Manufacturer Part#: DVD-R47ZZ600SK-8 (Made in Japan)

Media Type: DVD-R for General, Write-once format DVDR Blank Media

Top Surface: Silver Lacquer

Recording Speed: 1X - 8X

Storage Capacity: 4.7 GB / 120 Minutes

Older DVD recorders that were originally not 8X compatible require a firmware update in order to avoid potential damage.

And if not, I found an ad for some Verbatim discs at a store near me called InkStop.

All of the above Taiyo Yuden media look pretty good and shouldn't give you any problems. While you're here, if you want to buy dual-layer media (DVD +/-R), go for the Verbatim DVD+R/DL only as DVD-R/DL (all brands) has some problems.
