merchant42 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I am running WINME and after installing IMGBURN found that once I ran the program. It could not find the CD-RW this is a bit puzzling as when I open "my computer" both CD-RW and DVD are both there. And to top it all It has also knackered my other burning software (b's recorder and deepburner and Iso-burner) as none of them can find drives this is annoying ! I have tried everything I can think of Uninstalled ImgBurn no luck did a System Restore but the PC would not revert back(then I thought I would be clever and switch System Restore Off then back on alas when I turned it back on I found that all the Restore points had reset so that option has gone) Tried changing CD to master back to slave nothing Tried turning ASPI off in Bios and rebooting apart from reinstalling hardware this did not sort the problem Now I am no computer genius so would be grateful for anything that I could try that would sort this out preferably without having to use regedit or dos ! Ran a RegCleaner and removed anything to do with imgburn nothing. I have a feeling that this program caused the problem as when it was installed on my brothers pc (he is running 98SE) exactly the same thing happened (and to say he was not happy with me is an understatement !) Adding to the puzzle is the fact that both the CD and DVD are reading discs and playing music etc ! Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem will be gratefully received.

merchant42 Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Please post the info from the log window as you see it. Thanks for the help I have managed to sort the problem out. What I did was I found an old copy of Nero 4.5 on one of my disks and installed that. My feeling is that something in Nero replaced whatever my system was missing However I have no idea what as I cant even run Nero as i dont have the key! Yet I am not going to wonder what that was as I can now run my burning software
