spinningwheel Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The Buffer levels keep jumping durring burn and the write speed wont go past 3 with out it waiting for buffer to recover any sugesstiones ? Yup... Hi and welcome to the forum. First of all, get rid of your discs and get some Verbatim DataLifePlus or Taiyo Yuden brand discs...all others...repeat...all others are inferior and can lead to many problems. Secondly, are you using an exterior burner with USB 2.0 or Firewire connection? Third, are you doing a lot of multitasking at the same time as your burn, or trying to burn off of a network?
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 internal burner never had a problem with the media i have been using an im not multi tasking at all
mmalves Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Please read post #2 from the FAQ You might also want to defragment your HD(s)...
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Well i tried step 2 in faqs and my hard drive is running pio mode i cant change it to dma for some reason followed all the steps what next ?
cornholio7 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 have you deleted the controller and rebooted?
mmalves Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Check your motherboard's manufacturer site for updated IDE drivers, if there are any. Also look into your motherboard's BIOS and check if DMA (sometimes referred as 32-bit tranfers) is enabled on all IDE devices.
dontasciime Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Also check the hard drive for errors as that can knock drive back into PIO mode. UDMA In bios is a good place to start as mentioned above
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 well it is enabled in the bios i have done a check disk on it an it turned out fine i also defragged the drive updated to the latest drivers it a via board though
dontasciime Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 change the IDE cable make sure it's another 80 wire one try not to have the hard drive and the writer on the same cable as well If the hard drive is partitioned you will have to scan for errors on those as well
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 there on different cables i will try the cable idea
dontasciime Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 you will still have to have delete the controller in windows device manager for it to be picked back up after restart, after changing the cable.
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 nope nothing doing still runs in pio mode i don't know what happen it used to work fine i had vista but changed to xp just installed it the other day
dontasciime Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 when you say install, do you mean your formatted and then installed XP or do you mean you somehow downgraded to xp thru vista. Which motherboard do you have ?
cbjw Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 formated then installed xp motherboard is a Micorstar model # MS-7222 Chip set via P4M800CE South Bridge VT8237
dontasciime Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I see you mention latest drivers. That would be the Hyperion drivers I have uploaded latest pm800 and latest hyperion drivers (jan 2008) Its hard to say from here when user says they have done what they are supposed to have done then it usually turns out they have not (sorry if you have and understand more than the avg user) but if you have followed the correct procedure it's starting to look like your IDE is fried on board. you could try swapping over the hardware to the secondary to see if that fixes it, other than that your hard drive / the ide cables are broken. Or you do not have the correct drivers/ etc anyways latest msi 4 in 1 drivers http://rapidshare.com/files/86239791/VIA4in1_MB.7z and the via direct ones hyperion http://rapidshare.com/files/86243027/via_h...ionpro_v515a.7z you might want to see if there is a bios update for your motherboard just so it's clear install XP Clean and a format once installation is complete, first thing to install is chipset drivers then gfx card drivers then you can test to see what mode hd is in
cbjw Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 i understand im believing it is my hd going out due to the fact my bios is detecting some weird things with it
