ataylor Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 First off, loving ImgBurn - another great product from LIGHTNINGUK 1. I have read around here that Taiyo Yuden are the best DVDs to buy, but I'm having trouble finding them. Are Verbatims as good? I'm only doing single layer burns so no need for DL media.. 2. Whats the best way to store DVDs? I'm currently using a dvd wallet sort of thing, but not sure if this is a good option for long term storage. Been having all sorts of problems recently, I've backed up a ton of files to about 20 discs only to find out its crap media (TDK), all burnt using DeepBurner which reported no problems with any of them... First burn I try with ImgBurn and it reports a ton of read errors To the shops!
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 1. Verbatims are fine for DVD5. (I use them myself). 2. In a CD/DVD case?
LOCOENG Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 1. Verb 16X are very nice indeed, but if you can find Taiyo Yuden 8X they are the cats meow. 2. I store mine in a wallet/binder type of contraption.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 If you're having problems sourcing media, tell us where you're from and we'll point you in the right direction. Here in the UK most of us probably use www.svp.co.uk They carry the full range of Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs.
LOCOENG Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 If in the states.... http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com http://www.supermediastore.com
BoSox2882 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Not sure if a lot of other people use them or not, but Amazon.com usually has decent prices on media and usually offer free shipping on orders over $25.
ataylor Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Thanks for the help guys. I'm currently in Australia and have just picked up a spool of 50 Verbatim DVD-Rs. Not too hard to find decent media, but harder than the UK... To expand on the DVD storage - I have one of those cases, but have always been worried that if you are constantly slipping the discs in and out of the pockets that they could get damaged.
blutach Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 @ataylor I find that www.pcx.com.au are pretty good suppliers of high quality media. Prices shit on retail, too. Regards
