mmalves Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I 08:55:53 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66) (Speeds: 2.4x) Use Verbatim DVD+R DLs 2.4x Made in Singapore and you won't have problems again. Look in HP's website for a newer firmware for your burner

LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 RITEK-S04-66 is actually quite a new dye so whilst you might have got the same 'brand' as before, it's the dye that's important and I guess they changed which one their discs use.
clleavage Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) Um just for info, Which is better +R or -R? and what would be the top 3 best DVD Brands? kuz i dont wanna make a mistake like this again (15 memorex DVD+R DL all in the garbage XD) heres what i have http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...2693&catid= Edited January 27, 2008 by clleavage
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 You want to stick with 2.4x disc on that drive, I believe that's all it can handle anyway so anything 8x is too new for it (unless it has a very recent firmware?) So far a DL discs go, you want DVD+R DL and NOT DVD-R DL. For SL discs get whatever you want. I personally like the 8x Taiyo Yuden ones with the TYG02 dye. Verbatim either use the MCC dye or the TY one - both are excellent although I prefer the TY one for their DVD-R discs. So the dyes you're looking for are: TYG02 - 8x DVD-R TYG03 - 16x DVD-R YUDEN000-T02-00 - 8x DVD+R YUDEN000-T03-00 - 16x DVD+R MCC 02RG20 - 8x DVD-R MCC 03RG20 - 16x DVD-R MCC-003-00 - 8x DVD+R MCC-004-00 - 16x DVD+R MKM-001-00 - 2.4x DVD+R DL
clleavage Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 OK thanks ill try that out, dunno for the firmware, i tried to update it and it never worked so i guess its up to date.
