JABuyer Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 When I try to transfer a movie from my hard drive to a blank DVD+R in the E drive I keep getting an I/O message. The write sectors are not always the same but the message is basically the same each time and is gives the message after about 2% of the transfer has been made. I have tried HP DVD+R and Verbatim DVD+R discs and the same message appears. What really confuses me iis that for the longest time the transfers worked fine. I do not think I did anything to change anything but I am not real computer savy so I may have by accident but I can not figure out what has happened. My computer is a Compaq Presario with windows XP and the E drive has the HP lightscribe. It would be greatly appreciated if one of the experts on this forum could take a look at the message I get and advise me what to do to fix it. The message is as follows; I/O Error! Devise:[0:0:0] HL-DP-ST DVDRRW GWA-4166B 1823 (E:) ATA ScSi:Status 0X02 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB: 2A 00 00 01 16 60 00 00 20 00 Interpretation: Write(10)-Sectors:71264-71295 Sense Are: 70 00 03 0000 0E 0000 80 04 00 00 00 00 Interpretation: Unknown (Vendor Unique) (0x80,0x04) Thank you John

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Do you have a HP machine? You could try this firmware update: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...=en&lang=en You might also like to consider ditching your discs and getting some better ones - Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
kevdriver Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 John, first off get rid of the CMC MAG discs and buy some Verbatim DVD-R. CMC MAGs are utter rubbish. Also ensure that you have the latest firmware for your burner. Tools>Drive> check for firmware updates. I think the CMCs are your major problem now though. Edit: I'm just too damn slow.......

kevdriver Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 John, Same problem the Boss just answered from your above post about Imgburn.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Compaq and HP are the same thing. Download the firmware I linked to and install it to update your drive. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...228&lang=en (slightly different version of the same page - uses 'compaq' logo) Oh and post a log when you're burning a Verbatim disc please.

I downloaded the firmware and it says to continue if you are using different transfer programs. you have to do different things but I do not use any of the programs listed to do the transfers I use either Imgburn or DVDecrypter to write to the disc. John
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 All you have to do is burn the ISO file! Load it in write mode and burn it to a CDR(W). Or if you have a floppy drive, put it on a floppy disc.
