I am a total novice, so please forgive. imgburn was working great when Nero failed me. Project is to copy VHS tapes onto a DVD, then burn copies using the computer and imgburn. (These are home movies) I selected 'Read' , an ISO file 'SONATA' automatically appeared as the destination - it worked so I left it there. When the read was completed, I selected 'Write', put in a blank DVD, and the DVD would burn. I then deleted the file before starting the next one.

Today it won't read. It is set at MAX read speed. The buffer goes to 100%, but read stays at 0%. I noticed a read speed showing "OKB/s(0.0x). It just sits there forever, saying it is reading yet not moving. After 20 minutes or more, it won't even let me close the program.

What happened? Please keep it simple - I really don't know very much. The guides were way over my head.

That's strange, because in Read mode the buffer only gets to 100% when the disc is being read at a faster speed than the computer can write to the HD.

Can you post a log from this operation? You can find it in ImgBurn at Help menu/ImgBurn Logs option.

Hi and welcome to the forum, cheryl! :)

I remember from the past that you had to "finalize" the discs from such a stand alone DVD recorder for certain programs to be able to read them. Could that be the problem?

If you insert the disc from the VHS tapes in your PC and try to play them in the PC - does that work?

Thanks for the suggestion. I am copying the VHS tapes onto DVD+RWs, which do not need to be finalized like the +R and -R disks. The RW disks work better in the recorder. I am burning them onto +R disks. Like I said, it was working like a charm - and quickly - until yesterday. I wonder if there is something else - a virus or something - going on because the only way I could escape from the endless reading mode was to manually turn off the computer. Telling ImgBurn I wanted to end did nothing - even after 30 minutes. I will try to attach a log, but not sure if I can figure it out. We'll see.
