chewy
Only if the drive doesn't follow MMC specs. Try at 12x and see if it burns at 8x. thanks I have suggested than, will have him try a firmware update, he's probably skeptical about the crossflash, but he's already smoked anony's X2amd64/3800 bench times. smoked is slang for beaten
chewy
"lol Its working. Selected 12x burning at 8x. Whats MMC?" I invited him to ask about 8x media, and told him you didn't bite too hard! But told him to update his firmware!

LUK can't fix everything! If ImgBurn still burns 4x after the firmware upgrade when you specify 8x, then it might be a bug! LIGHTNING UK!
I was kinda expecting 12x to burn at 8x, seeing as how 8x burns at 4x. This (to me), would be more of a firmware issue as the program most certainly sends the correct speed value to the drive. Do I have a 10x in that speed box... I can't remember! If I do, use that and see if it burns at 8x. Looks like plextor just messed with the range of numbers used to set a certain speed on the drive. MMC is the command set specification that all new drives are supposed to follow. All drives are supposed to accept certain commands and respond in certain ways to having those commands issued to them. 'SET STREAMING' is the one being used here to set the speed. The documents can be found on www.t10.org if you care to read them before you go to bed

chewy
Life(?), you might use shrink to make another iso of a questionable burn on poor media(cmcmag)/something that should have been backed up to a verb, then the test will not waste another good blank
