Movie Junkie Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I have read here and a few other places some things that are causing me to reconsider getting the BenQ 1655 drive. In searching various sites it seems that the Pioneer DVR-610B is a very good drive. I would like some input as to your feelings about this Pioneer drive (or a newer model if they have one).
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I'm pretty sure these are all just 110 models. As such, you can see how it performs by looking at the drives and media forum. I still like the scanning stuff and advanced features that users can configure with the BenQ drives.

I too like the various features but one of my concerns is that there appears to be a problem with some of the firmwares burning DL discs and, from what I have read here, if you are using the firmware that seems to be the best BOSD (or something like that) the advanced burn feature needs to be turned off, at least to get good burns on DL media. I know that problem was, according to the post, on a 1640 but since the 1655 has not yet been tested there is no way of knowing if these same idosyncrasies are going to be part of it.
