Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Hi, I am having problems burning a Dual Layer ISO. I am assuming it is probably the disks I have (Phillips DVD+R DL)? Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 hi, I just tried to flash my drive to the latest firmware but I have run into issues. The flasher seems to have crashed! not good I assume. What should I do? Here is an image. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7145/ohnoxu4.jpg Thanks
mmalves Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Did you remove any disc that was inside and closed the tray before flashing?
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Also to continue the original problem I just tried to burn the disk on another PC, here is the log of the error. Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Sorry for the double post, my other post isn't up to edit yet. Yes, I removed the disk like it asked me to, it didn't give any other instructions than that.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Is the drive light flashing on the AOPEN? It looks like it actually wrote the firmware code, just the checking got stuck... so hopefully if you do have to reset the PC it'll be ok. Maybe try flashing it again? As for burning in the other PC, slow it down to 2.4x and update to TS12 firmware http://samsungoms.com/eng/firmware/fwdownl...ode=&os_no=
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Nothing is flashing on the drive, looks pretty idle. Windows can see it too. I will try to run the flashing software again.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 load up imgburn and see if it picks up the new firmware version
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Just rebooted windows as the drive wasn't working, now windows only sees "CD Drive", ImgBurn sees "Found 1 unknown" and the patcher sees cdrom0: RICOH Ploader2 REGULUS2.01 even though the only disk drive in my PC is the AOpen one. Windows just popped up a message saying new hardware installed and I have to restart so will try that now.
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Well that did nothing, I'm trying to flash this RICOH one with the AOpen flasher now.
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Nothing, AOpen flasher just crashes whilst tring to erase the memory of it. http://club.aopen.com.tw/forum/viewmessage...MessageID=78216 Looks like that guy got it to work, but he doesn't say how and that was 3 years ago.
Cynthia Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Do you have the burner attached as master in the settings (switches) at the back of the burner?
mmalves Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Reboot in Safe Mode (keep pressing F8 until you get the Safe Mode option) and try again. //edit: Too slow
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Yes pretty sure it is the master, it is the only IDE on that channel and the only disk drive in my system so should be anyway. Trying in safe mode now.
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Doesn't look like safe mode will work either, the program runs and thebar along the bottom increases but it still says erasing flash ROM when it gets to the end and stops responding. Any other ideas? What If I tried in XP?
dontasciime Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 would be worth dropping to dos and seeing if you could flash it in xp at least try xp safe mode as well, change the Ide cable switch drive in bios to use pio mode as well
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 I dont have an XP box to hand so will have to try that tomorrow. I will try the BIOS thing now.
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Well I just had a look in BIOS, found an option for Primary master and Primary slave PIO set to auto. The other options were Mode 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Didn't know which to choose. PLus, the drive is theSecondary master, with my HDD being the Primary master.
Ferretti Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 Right, I give up, just ordered a new drive.
